§ Objectives and Activities of the Japan Society of Family Sociology

The Japan Society of Family Sociology is an academic organization established in 1991 (registered with the Science Council of Japan) to promote theoretical, empirical, and practical research concerning the family so as to contribute to the development of both individuals and society. At present, it has about 700 members whose interests are focused on family-related subjects, such as academics, researchers, family court investigation officers, journalists, graduate students, and so forth. Members' academic products are made public through the Society's Annual Meetings and the bi-annual journal Kazoku-shakai-gaku kenkyu (Japanese Journal of Family Sociology).
